Great product for camping if cooking for urself
I used this on a solo trip in Linville gorge. It worked very well. Larger than others so it takes more space than I wanted but was also large enough to boil water for noodles. Great quality!gmfossett
Decent cook set
The pot is the same diameter as the lid (6.25”) until the top .375”, which has a ledge that expands out to about 6.5” to allow the lid to seat on top. 1.5 liters will fill the pot up to the shoulder of this ledge, and allow just barely enough freeboard to contain this quantity of water at a rolling boil. The pot gripper holds the pot or lid securely, even when filled to capacity, and can be used to grip either the attachment points or the rim of the pot or lid. The lid doubles as a small frying pan, and would easily cook 2-3 eggs. I fried an egg over medium heat using 1 tsp butter, and there was no residue left in the lid that couldn't be wiped out with a paper towel. The plastic bowl holds 600 ml to the rim. Although another reviewer had complained about no measuring cup being provide with the set, the 12 oz drinking cup is marked in 1/4 cup (i.e., 2 oz) graduations on the inside of the cup. The thin stainless steel saves weight, but the bottoms of the pot and lid do not sit completely flat on a flat surface. For stability, I made a dimple in the middle of the bottom of the pot by pushing it in with my thumb (elastic deformation) which did not pop out when the pot was heated. I did the same with the lid, which promptly popped back as soon as heat was applied. The lid is stable when supported on a stove, and having it rock slightly when put on a flat surface is not a big issue for me. One other caveat; when using the lid as a frying pan, you should detach the gripper unless you are holding the gripper in your hand, since it is too heavy for the pan, and may cause the pan to tip over. (If you've ever cooked in a USGI mess kit, you know what I'm talking about!)scouterjim
Sturdy, good design
I was very pleased with this kit. Mostly such kits are aluminum.... this is well made, stainless steel and a good practical size.Faith
